We offer a variety of classes for children, parents, and teachers. We also host classes from other organizations. Please see our class policies for complete details.
Children's Classes
We are pleased to offer a variety of enrichment classes in math, science, history, language, and the arts. The following classes are taught by Heddi Craft, an experienced teacher and parent of three. She has been teaching classes for children for over 15 years. The title of each class is linked to a more detailed description and enrollment information. All children's classes are taught at the Educational Resoruce Center (224 Walnut Ave., Santa Cruz) and require preregistration and a deposit.

Young Scientists: Magnets and Electricity6 classes: March 10th to April 14th Students will explore the properties of magnets and electricity We'll make temporary magnets, experiment with static electricity, build a circuit, and more! |
After School Enrichment :
Trash Can Math4 classes: February 26th to March 19th Using cast-off materials and everyday items, students will build and use an abacus, explore fractals, and more! We’ll find out about mathematics while experimenting with our creations. |

Artists Trading Cards3 classes: April 16th to April 30th Artist Trading Cards (or ATCs) are miniature works of art about the same size as modern baseball cards. Each child will create a number of unique cards and have the opportunity to trade cards with others at the end of each class. A new media technique will be introduced at each class. |

Camouflage to Claws: Animal Survival6 classes: March 15th to April 26th (no class April 5th) Students will learn about the many ways that animals survive in the wild. They will end the class by creating their own imaginary animal with its own unique survival strategies. |

Magnet Madness6 classes: March 10th to April 21st (no class April 7th) In this class, students will map magnetic fields, build compasses, create magnetic motors, and more all through hands-on experimentation! |
Homeschool Enrichment :
Minimus Latin12 classes: March 10th to May 26th An introduction to the Latin language and Roman history through the adventures of Minimus the mouse. |

Parent Workshops
Please pre-register for all workshops. You may pay in advance using the buttons below or call 831-818-8178 to register and pay the day of the class. Workshops with less than four pre-registered participants will be cancelled.

| Homeschooling 101 Wednesday, April 14th, 21st, and 28th, 6:30-8:30pm (6 hours total) Especially for new homeschoolers, this workshop will give you all the tools you need to get started on your homeschooling journey. We'll cover the legal ways to homeschool, details on a variety of homeschooling styles, discovering your child’s learning style, writing goals for homeschooling, and how to choose appropriate curriculum for homeschooling. Plenty of time will be given to discuss the needs of individual families and participants will leave with a notebook of resources. The three week series would also be appropriate for those wishing to give their homeschooling experience a “tune up.” Cost: $85/members, $95/non-members |

The Resource Center has a monthly support group for homeschooling parents.
Monthly Homeschooling Parent Support Group
Meet with other homeschooling parents on the second Monday of the month to discuss joys and challenges in a supportive environment. This free support group takes place on the second Monday of every month from 7-9pm. (No pre-registration required.)

Finger Babble Infant Sign Language
We are sharing our space with Finger Babble sign language classes for babies 8 months to 2 years. New classes beginning on Tuesday, January 12th from 10-11am. Please contact Laura Peterson for more information or to register..
Class Policies
- Registration is due one week prior to the first class. All classes and workshops require and enrollment of four students minimum.
- All children's classes require a $20 deposit when enrolling to be paid one week prior to the start of class. This deposit is refundable prior to the first day of class if you contact the Educational Resource Center. However, we cannot refund your deposit after the first class day has occurred. Deposits will also be refunded if minimum registration is not met.
- The balance on children's classes and the entire fee for parent workshops is due at the beginning of the first class.
- If you or your child is too sick to be comfortable in class or might spread a contagious illness, please stay at home.
- We currently do not offer make-ups for classes. If you must miss a class, please ask us about a coupon for discounted enrollment on future classes.
- Work scholarships are available. Please contact Heddi Craft for details.
- Homeschoolers with Ocean Grove Charter School: We are currently not approved as a vendor for Ocean Grove. Please ask your ES for more details.
